SIMPLICITY

LCD technology is very complex to manufacture. The process can include up to 128 steps. Intricate structures filter light through three sub-pixels (1 Red, 1 Blue, and 1 Green for every single pixel). Because LCD features are so small and complex, manufacturing them is difficult. Simpler construction should lead to greater reliability and consistency. UniPixel fabrication should involve as little as twelve steps and requires only six layers.

Other benefits include:

Life span
OLED displays typically last less than 10,000 hours; plasma less than 30,000 hours; CRTs less than 40,000 hours; and LCDs up to 100,000 hours. Testing indicates UniPixel life could exceed 100,000 hours by as much as a factor of two.
